| Radiohead | Counting Crows (I & II) | The New Amsterdams | Drive-By Truckers (I & II) | Adam's Mixes |

These are a collection of perfectly legal "bootleg" recordings of my favorite artists. Most are live recordings, some are studio recordings released by the artists. If you know me, you've probably received at least one as a Christmas gift at one point or another. I started making these because I was procrastinating before a massive project (see Radiohead below), but it's been a way for me to get to know and share my favorite bands. Plus, I really like live recordings but bands rarely release them. All are under 74 minutes, so burn them and bust out your discman. Enjoy, and pass along.

| Radiohead: Live and Rare Mix | |
| This was my first mix, and I made most of it in Green Library while supposedly preparing for the research grant that I had just won. (Don't worry--it all worked out. See www.campuslivingwageproject.org). While procrastinating, I surfed around and found the best of their live and rare recordings--nothing that is available on their albums, but should be. Most of the performances are stripped down to acoustic arrangements (check out Motion Picture Soundtrack), and you'll notice my love for slow songs. But you'll forgive me. | |

| Counting Crows I: Rockin' Mix | |
| After my Radiohead phase came my Counting Crows phase. Even though their later stuff was waaaay over-produced (and evidenty Adam has a bit of an ego (not me!)), they are very good musicians and the lead singer's voice is just right for me. About half of the songs are covers, and the album ends with a combined Live Forever-Long December which will make you want to learn the piano, and with San Francisco, which I included for K's return to California. What can I say--I'm a romantic. All of the tracks on here are freely available with many others at www.annabegins.com, so don't blame me.. | |

| The second mix brings it down (even more), and has mostly acoustic songs. It's also mostly covers, including one of my favorites "Crossing Muddy Waters" by John Hiatt. It also features Perfect Blue Buildings which Lisa and I used to play in Synergy. It comes full circle? Dunno. Enjoy Duritz's always plaintive voice, and don't let his hair distract you. | |

| Okay, I love this band but I know you haven't heard of them. It's okay--most people haven't. It began as the acoustic side-project of Matt Pryor of the The Get Up Kids, whose "Four Minute Mile" was the soundtrack for the summer Ross and I spent skimboarding in Santa Barbara. (Don't worry, I eventually learned how to surf... sortof.) Anyway, this takes emo to the next level (or down, depending on your taste). I devote this album to Erica Yu, who accompanied me to see them at the Black Cat when I didn't have any friends in DC yet. Thanks. (All of these tracks are from recordings on their website--mostly live performances, but a few from their unreleased EP.) | |

| But the best concert I've ever been to, hands down, is the Drive By Truckers. This mix has a special meaning to me--it's the actual concert I went to at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, with the ever-reliable Erica Yu. It's the only concert that I actually bought merchandise at (a trucker's hat, of course), and I spent the rest of the night singing "A World of Hurt". Awesome. | |

| Drive By Truckers II: Adam's DBT in DC and Encore | |
| This is part of two of the series. The Living Bubba, a classic song about one of their friends who died of AIDS, closes out the DC set--but I knew that you needed more, and even though they played 31 songs there still remained lots of good ones. So the rest of the songs are from a fairly legendary performance in Boulder, Colorado, and ends with one of my favorite's "Zip City." Adam Abeles and I sang this to a totally confused group of friends at Amy's ski vacation, and I dedicate this bootleg to him for introducing me to his Tennessee breathen.
